At the end of May 2012, ESAMP was awarded further Heritage Lottery Fund Skills for the Future funding enabling us to take on another seven trainees over the coming year.

Hands-on Medieval & Tudor Crafts
Date: 1st November 2012 10.30am-4pm
Location: Anne of Cleves House, Lewes
Participants: General Public/family groups

Activities around the Tudor House exploring wall painting, tile making aspects of building construction and other Medieval and Tudor crafts with East Sussex Archaeology and Museums Partnership.

Hands-on Archaeology Day
Date: 30th August 2012 10.30am-4pm
Location: Lewes Castle
Participants: General Public/family groups

Have a go at artefact sorting, identifying and recording. Plus hands on early crafts with East Sussex Archaeology and Museums Partnership. Lots of hands on activities and fun for all ages.

Talk at Fabrica 
Date: 18th July 2012 1.30-2.30pm
Location: Fabrica Art Gallery, 40 Duke Street, Brighton

Where we come from and how we lived. How did our ancestors build their homes?
The East Sussex Archaeology and Museums Partnership team looks at some of the ways our ancestors constructed their homes from local materials and reveals how they use house building projects based on archaeological evidence to help contemporary communities discover our common heritage.

CCE Summer School 
Date: 9th – 13th July 2012
Location: Michelham Priory
Participants: Sussex University Continuing Education Students
This is an ESAMP course run in partnership with the Sussex Archaeological Society and the Centre for Community Engagement at the University of Sussex. It is held at Michelham Priory and attracts people from across the UK. Participants are taught a very wide range of ancient crafts by ESAMP staff and trainees. The course is recognized as being unique nationally in its scope and quality. This is the nineteenth year which the course has been offered.

Heritage and Environment Festival
Date: 26th-28th June 2012
Location: Mouslecoomb School, Brighton
Participants: Schools, Teachers, Public Open Evening
This three-day event offers students and teachers from schools across Sussex to participate in numerous workshops and activities with various providers. ESAMP will run workshops in Anglo Saxon clothing and weaving, medieval building techniques and tile making, prehistoric clothing and hide work and archaeological techniques and finds identification.

Celtic Festival
Date: 6th and 7th May 2012
Location: Michelham Priory
Participants: General Public/family groups
This is an annually held, two day public event located at ESAMP's Iron Age Activity centre at Michelham Priory. The event is designed to show people of all ages (through a series of engaging practical activities) what life might have been like for people living in the Iron Age in Sussex. This event was initially designed and set up by ESAMP and has been run every year for the last eighteen years in partnership with the Sussex Archaeological Society. On average two thousand five hundred people attend the event each year. Activities include weaving, making pots and woodwork. There will be demonstrations of cooking

Dover Boat Open Day
Date: 10th April 2012
Location: Dover Museum
Participants: General Public
ESAMP trainees have been involved in a project to reconstruct the Dover boat. This Bronze Age themed day will include archaeological displays, demonstrations and hands on activities and welcomes the public to talk with expert craftspeople leading the project as well providing a chance to see the reconstruction of the boat so far.

Go Wild at Buchan Park Public Day
Date: 19th February 2012
Location: Buchan Country Park
Participants: General Public/family groups
ESAMP will provide displays and hands on activities relating to early food, hunting and early building techniques alongside other activity providers from Sussex Wildlife Trust and Sussex High Weald AONB Unit at this event.
